Top experiences are all completely botted. I don’t care who says otherwise. I’ve gone into these experiences over the last couple of weeks just to look and they constantly have over 30+ people in their experiences doing nothing.

All of the trending experiences that stay on the trending list for weeks at a time need to be investigated. Our game, with over 600-800 plays and over 150 unique users PER DAY, didn’t show up on trending. Not saying that it should have been, but just showing how unrealistic those numbers are.

These ranking have turned into a bad joke and honestly the studios have enough to deal with when running these competitions.

Hope this get’s looked into or I’m afraid there’s no point in participating in this anymore.

Hey guys, It was anticipated that this would happen, especially after many of you raised concerns about the TSB data metrics not matching our experience analytics pages. This is the outcome of those concerns.

It’s surprising that this wasn’t foreseen, particularly after TSB made some changes to their anti-cheat measures and other rules. So now it appears that the new rules favor those who have players’ accounts spending more time in their experiences, whether they are fake or legit, while unique player visits have become secondary.

That is the reason why I mentioned this in one of my past posts: "I proposed turning future Builder challenges into a large Game Jam competition lasting 2-3 months instead of 3 weeks where the 1.5 million sands, for example, could be fairly distributed to the top 100 experiences instead of just 10 or 20. To ensure fairness, judges should have no direct ties to any participating studios or creators. You don’t need to agree with this; you can propose what you think could work to reward quality experiences and help the TSB community grow organically.” If anyone has an alternative suggestion to ensure fairness, please feel free to share.

It’s interesting that INDEXGAME HK never mentioned those #1 and #2 Experiences on their Twitter Post, they only promote Cryptic Escape: The Sewer and The Great Wall Runner as part of the builders challenge, yet they took the Top spots. We all know they cheated, what a shame, but whose to blame?

We came here pretty fresh with our Experience GEOMETRY UPRISING and was very glad we made it to Top 5! But after looking at the Top 1 and 2, I think this is our last to join the BC!

The timing of the 1st and 2nd place games comments really pop out to me. Every 8 to 12 minutes for a few days straight. I don’t know the content of what has been said, but the regularity of the posts is what draws my attention.

@TuschayStudios your point about hopping in and seeing 19 idle or afk players in game might be yet another tool TSB uses to vet games. Any trending game, especially mp should trigger automatic regular reviews by tsb staff, who simply jump in to game play to get a sense of how the game is being experienced. If they note a large amount of afk or idle play over a givem number of quick reviews of a couple minutes, then a game gets flagged.

Don’t know how to do this with SP, but with the MP push in this challenge, it’s something to consider. I think idle or afk players do happen in games, especially as you can’t save games yet in tsb, but if 19 players are idle in an instance, or should be a red flag.

This would obviously only really matter during events like a builders challenge where visits = reward and status on the coveted front page of featured or trending

I thought delayed ranking results mean you guys are reviewing the data before you release it? You don’t need to be a pro data analyst to see what’s wrong in this data. Everyone could see it. As a data analyst in my past life, this is infuriating. But if you haven’t realized, and excuse me for explaining, offending, or feeling like I know better, I feel like it’s necessary to voice out because lessons have not yet been learned UNTIL NOW.

Scenario 1 (Monologue): Data is out! Looks like it’s good. Oh! We have Top 1 & 2 under the same studio. Wow talk about hard work w/ 1 hr AVG playtime?? Interesting. Let’s play the game. Playing the game now… wait what… This doesn’t look right. Let’s investigate.

Scenario 2: Checking the rest… Nice we got another hard worker with multiple names in the tanking. Wow! That’s a lot of games. This name is also familiar and got top in BC1 too. Also interesting, let’s check the experiences. Okay game 1- good. Game 2-hmmm… Is it the same? Game 3-wait what…

My point is, as the first receiver of the data, the result should have tickled your brains and fleshed out your curiosity before you release the data or you don’t care at all. You don’t just “YOLO, huehue.” when you release the data.

Also, what happened to this? What kind of review are you doing? Just numbers or also the content?

It seems like the playbook is:

1. Release numbers

2. Wait for reaction

3. Is reaction bad? (How many, who, what)

4. If bad, apologize, ama, ama ama ama ama, fix, release a premature update on GM, or any anticipated feature to appease complainers

5. If not that bad, shrug it off.

and 6th step probably, recommend DAO. Don’t even get me started on this.

Looks like your usual playbook is good for the numbers but not for quality. And maybe that’s the new direction? Or did we expect wrongly of the challenge? Let us know so we can spam the map with duplicates, collect quests, 4 Wolves, and E E E E E E E E E. Let’s make it easier for everyone, right?

Please, for the love of… don’t make this hard for yourself and for the people who face the community complaints. If you say you’re reviewing data then do it. If after reviewing and after everything that has happened until now, still it doesn’t seem right, CLEAN HOUSE. Someone isn’t doing the job properly and you’re entrusting your business to them. I’m not discrediting anyone’s hard work. It just feels misplaced and/or incorrect.

What is the goal of the Builders Challenge?
Because if it’s just to have 1000+ published experiences, if doesn’t matter is good or not, maybe it’s simpler to just do a airdrop for every land owner who publishes every two weeks and called “Publishing Challenge”.

If it’s to have more Players, I think it’s necessary to greatly improve the players’ quality of life, tools for ecossystem and others features. Like Affiliate and Referral links, or even a “guest account” where the visitor doesn’t need to have an account on TSB.

I’m very lost about what’s happening here.

I’m impressed that I have experiences earning 550 SAND in 308th and 340th place with experiences published I made to test prototypes. This is a grotesque burn of community SAND and investors. Those 550 SAND for 12 visits I made is absurd. Meanwhile, the studios I work for or have worked for they are in a terrible situation, suffering a lot. Both financially and psychologically.

I’m very lost about what’s going on here.

Guys, look at the table. The goal has always been to encourage ALL landowners, from a studio, to a 1st timer, to list your experiences, regardless of quality. That’s why SAND is given out even to the 1000th person on the LB.

Yes, its a numbers game. Do you like it? No, not everyone will. But the fact is that most landowners sit on their lands waiting for SAND to drop from the sky via cats or airdrop. TSB can’t just be giving this out without labour.

The SAND that they distribute for Builder’s Challenge is to encourage ANYONE to publish and to get traffic, whether through engaging via X, or having their own discord group of friends, engaging with LAN cafes, marketing via other mediums like influencers etc.

THAT is the labour. Is it fair? There’ll always be someone who says its not.

Heck i missed Builder’s Challenge 1 because I was couldn’t see myself comparing with u all.

I myself listed an experience for the first time, and as a landowner, i’m very happy that, being on a PLAY2EARN platform, I’m able to EARN as a novice publisher well, because i suck at getting on leaderboards. If I had more lands, i’d publish on as many of them.

Botting happens everywhere. Heck even the best games have their own internal bot systems to play with you without you knowing. FYI I am not condoning the act, just being realistic here.

Of course, if the numbers are too suspicious, a second look should be given.

I personally feel the problem is maybe with the way the rewards are distributed, especially for top 3, or even top 13. But there’s no best way to distribute rewards, just better. And hopefully things improve over the seasons.

I see many seasoned builders here constantly complaining about how bad things are.

When anti cheat was on, BAD, because stats reflected are not accurate.
When its off, BAD, because numbers are inflated.

So choose, do you want less accurate stats? or raw data as the benchmark for lb? Because as much as we want our own stats to be both accurate(minus the bots) and raw, someone’s stats will always look wrong to them as long as data is tinkered. Bots will look at like humans and humans look like bots.

You’re 100% correct. Seems the winning strategy is to just fill your lands with duplicate games or lackluster experiences. As long as all the LANDs are filled.

The top earners on this leaderboard (besides the top 3) are two other studios that published 25+ of the same experience. In one case, it’s literally just a template duplicated 20 times with a 5 second quest. In the other case, it’s the same map 30 times, but with a different weapon in each map. They both made over 10,000 SAND from these leaderboards.

We’ve spent so long thinking of great game ideas and then this is the result of what’s the most played. Instead of providing quality games, TSB is encouraging us to just fill the board with nothing. Not really the metaverse we all imagined, is it?

Personally, I think the leaderboard system is always going to be a problem. We studios spend A LOT every year employing people in this space. Of course we need to earn more from these competitions. Clients are very few and far between (and create a slew of problems as well with game maker updates), so we’re essentially all working for free just to keep the platform alive. Profits aren’t even a consideration.

All that to say this whole builders challenge needs to be rethought. There should be an application process to submit our games through so that they can be verified ahead of time to be an actual game. Then, there should be different leaderboards for different levels of studios. But this would require resources.
