Hey @PeaJay how is it going? Ty for sharing the weekly rankings, I have some question about it:

1)In the ranking there are people and studios who do not have KYC, what will happen to them, will they be removed from the leaderboard?

2)In the Article on Medium there was a ranking that rewarded up to 1000 places, if around 300 are qualified, what will happen to those sands that were not distributed for the remaining 700 places?

3)Luckily I’m in the ranking, do you know how long after the rewards will be sent?

I participated in Builder Challenge 2 with experience that didn’t take part in Builder Challenge Season 1. Could you please check why I don’t have the New Game Booster score? I had updated the game to the latest version in advance to participate in Builder Challenge 2. :rage: :rage: :rage:

@NFTwoojuin Looks like just your icon is missing… when you do the math (with 2 boosters) it shows to be correct minus the icon. If you do the math of a lot of those on the list you will notice your “score” is actually the score of the above game. I sent this shift of data to @PeaJay in this leaderboard, but haven’t heard back yet. Hopefully that helps everyone who is calculating your own data.

I do what I can to help out the community as a whole… data is not and should not be hard. So if I can help out the data calculations and free up the time obviously needed of the TSB staff to do the more difficult data calculations and collections, then we all win by getting more accurate information.

I would like to express my frustration with the current situation at The Sandbox. We are soon to enter the sixth week of the event, and to date no rewards have been sent out. I recognize the problem you have had with the data, but how much longer are we going to have to wait?

It’s frustrating to know that somehow small studios or solo devs have to compete with big studios offering huge amounts of rewards for playing the games, which is perfectly fine, it is what it is. However, for others like me, with zero capital to run contests, I had the plan to do a soft promotion and with the help from friends to achieve a good ranking in the first weeks, so that from the third week, to run contests with rewards to motivate other players, but apparently, and it is my feeling, I will not be able to run any events in the course of this BC2, just as it happened in BC1, getting the rewards weeks after the challenge ended.

My questions are:
When will the week 1+2 rewards arrive?
When will the week 3+4 rankings be up?
When will the week 3+4 rewards arrive?

I hope that quick action will be taken to fix these problems and all the problems that you may have, as they directly affect our motivation and confidence in The Sandbox, if you care about that.
You may be coincidentally planning to distribute the rewards for at least week 1+2 today, or tomorrow, so my concern may seem unfounded, but transparency and adherence to your own proposed schedule is still crucial, just as we stick to the rules you impose for these events. I’ve seen a few people ask the same question on this forum.

Does this mean that going forward there will be 2 rankings for every 2 week period, one with your anti-cheat system, and one without? Or is this just for the first 2 weeks of this builders challenge?

It is clear that you entirely removed your anti-cheat and anti-afk system for the second rankings published, so it would be good to get some clarification on this please!

Another disruption and disappointment for small creators in an unfair battle against large studios. We are very sorry that these changes negatively impact our progress. When all rewards are calculated based on the rankings announced by Sandbox and prizes are given to players while we haven’t received any SAND ourselves yet, we now find out that our received SAND is halved in the new rankings. When you are considering adding staff for more activity in Sandbox, this is how you are supported – by having your income halved.

Rewards for Week 1+2 will be distributed early next week.

Rankings for week 3+4 will be posted next week.

Those who haven’t KYC’d their account are also included so they know what their ranks are. However they will not be getting their rewards in the upcoming batch. At the end of the BC we will go over missing and late claims, if you’ve KYC’d your account by your will be eligible for rewards.

  1. Those who haven’t KYC’d their account are also included on the ranking so they are aware of their ranks. However they will not be getting their rewards in the upcoming batch. At the end of the BC we will go over missing and late claims, if you’ve KYC’d your account by then, you will be eligible for rewards.

  2. Nothing has been defined yet on what will be done with SAND rewards that were provisioned for the event but not distributed. Since they are meant to be for creators, there’s a strong chance it will go to creators. Feel free to suggest how you think these remaining rewards will be distributed. Note that for week 1+2, since we are distributing rewards according to the best ranking each experience got out of the 2 published leaderboards the provisioned 300K rewards for weeks 1+2 will have been fully distributed.

  3. Rewards for week 1+2 will be distributed early next week.

Thanks for sharing your frustration on this. We will do our best to get all this done as soon as possible.

  • When will the week 3+4 rewards arrive? → Depends if we encounter issues once the ranking has been posted. We’re aiming for early in the week of August 5th, if we can do it earlier we’ll do so.

Moving forward there will only be 1 ranking for every 2 week period. Taking the best of the 2 rankings will only be done for the week 1+2 batch not for the rest of the 4 batches.

Yes, the anti-cheat and anti-afk systems have been removed from the updated ranking posted above.

The multiplier was applied, it’s just that the sticker didn’t come out right. It’s been updated in the leaderboard above. Note that your score now better reflects the corrected calculation.

Will the rankings going forward be using this updated system of no anti-cheat and no anti-afk systems? We try to discourage our players from afk-ing in our games, which is why I believe we scored so much higher in the initial rankings. But if there is no penalty on afk-ing, why should we not encourage our players to afk?

Appreciate the efforts of TSB to make this right and being prompt on feedback.

I’d like to share a couple of thoughts and ideas.

I’ll start with the only concern regarding this leaderboard:

  • Are the experiences that have been featured as Experience of the Week, the ones that TSB offers 10K SAND every week, get included in this list? AFAIK we have been told that Experiences that were part of events would be excluded from the Builders challenge - At least while the event is going on.

If this is not taken into account, TSB literally can decide who will be the TOP 12 by pushing Experiences in the newsletters, and we all know those boost metrics A LOT.

This is the major concern I got for Builders Challenge reward distribution.

As for improvement feedback:

  • Builders Challenge Leaderboards should be Tiered and Rewards should have a better distribution.
  • As for the Tiering, I advise you look into games that place new players into the D Tier, while long time Players are competing in the SS+ Tier. This way it creates a more fair competition with those in the same level as you. This was done to engage new players and not be overwhelmed by trying to compete with more experienced Players.
  • Secondly about the reward distribution, the Gap between the rankings is abnormal, only the Top 3 are actually able to survive, anything below Top 3 right now is paying not even a minimum wage in Europe, which is ridiculous if we take into account that we are using also these funds to set our own prize pools. It’s a downwards spiral.
  • One of the most used and accepted prize distribution formats are the ones used in big Poker tournaments. The gap isn’t huge and it’s very inclusive to all those that participate. It’s only a suggestion, there are other Leaderboard and Ranking types when it comes for a payout structure.

As for the boosters, they are serving well for TSB corporate level, but not at all in the Creator level:

  • Boosters that revolve around Cooperating, actually benefit TSB ecosystem as a whole, there is more content, more hours of gameplay and more fun to the players.
  • Creators make long lasting friendships and partnerships.
  • The Metaverse becomes a big open place where creators are encouraged to engage with each other. CO-OP > PVP.

Hope you take this feedback as someone who wants to see TSB to thrive and all the Creators in it.

I completely agree with most of the ideas presented in your message; however, as a solo indie creator, a featuring placement from The Sandbox is literally the only way of getting my game in front of more players. With all the marketing efforts, and I think I’m not only speaking for myself, our games will simply not get players unless we have big rewards pool to distribute (which we don’t have)

I concur. The distribution between top 3 and everyone else is massive, and as i and Dankoyy alluded to earlier, it disproportiantely sets them apart in the early days of the challenge due to the substantial rewards distribution differential. Those rewards then get applied to subsequent weeks, which makes it harder and harder for smaller lower placed games to stand out or offer rewards that attract users.

The featured experience, experience of the week boost and front page real estate of a lotvof these games amplifies this. I get that TSB wants to amplify their top games, but in doing so, it really begins to skew metrics, visits etc towards the games with much larger purses and visual profiles.

Also agree on the smaller amounts paid out to anyone out of top 10. When accounting for payouts of contests, the takeaway isnt a living wage here in north america either. I have a day job, so in my case, this is not a full time venture and dont really rely on it for an income, but for those trying to make a living doing this as game devs, the path is a tough one, and is more often just a labor of love.

Paying out 100k to the top 3 after this event is done further exacerbates the massive divergence between those and most every other game going forward, gives them massive upside heading into future bc with large war chests, and puts the rest at greater disadvantage.

I’m happy with my placement in weeks 1 and 2, the reward isnt really the point for me, more the competition, but i fully recognize without my game being in the very small july event, its unlikely i would drawn the numbers i have, and while i have benefitted from this, i can see how it looks to others who dont have the affordance of this free advertising. It’s got to be frustrating to see.

My other two games, one an mp game has very few plays, and it really gets me wondering as to spending time updating them, for very little gain. I really do it because i like building, but I have no expectation of ever cracking the top 10, 20 or better, even though i feel like my most recent game is a really solid first pass at an mp build.

One thing that irks me a bit is in how hard it is to even get my premium land to show up in the front page of the experience page. I’ve requested feature a bunch of times for all of my games, but have never seen them selected, instead it seems to be largely the same top games promoted, which is fantastic for them.

I see all these non premium lands featured, and very few premium lands benefitting from higher exposure as was insinuated when we bought them.

A larger splash page is great, but has little influence when the game is buried deep in some category.

It’s a bit late for this bc where the disproportionate tiering of rewards is what it is, i would hope the team takes the feedback on this long thread, and looks to implement and improve future bc.
