TSB League Initiative

Hello UGC Community,

Iā€™m Daniel, known as Dankoyy.
I have been working professionally in the TSB community for 3 years, alongside Trusted Partners Studios such as Tempest Studios (1 year and 7 months), and today I work with Lucidity Studio (May 2024 - Present), focusing on advanced logic development in GameMaker and as a specialist in the TSB Ecosystem/Education.

:white_check_mark: The Iniciative
I am developing an initiative that will be presented to the Sandbox staff team regarding a concept called ā€œThe Sandbox Leagueā€. The preliminary document was sent on September 7 to TSBā€™s HQ. We received a response today from TSB and we are preparing a presentation to present to the team.

I have reached out to many creators through Twitter and Discord for the development of the preliminary version, and today I have 44 supporters backing the initiative, where I met with most of them one by one in meetings.

The Sandbox League is a concept and idea under development being presented to the TSB Creator Program management, proposing an idea for implementation, by TSB within the programā€™s roadmap as a idea for ā€˜Quick Wins and Immediate Actions.ā€™ This is not the final idea for the Creator Program as a whole, which will include other projects such as Challenges, Game Jams, and others. This is a specific idea aimed at Veteran GameMaker developers with small teams, that are known for their achievements.

:white_check_mark: TSB League - Next Steps

Now, I am opening a channel seeking contact with all BC2 participants to introduce myself and offer to include them in the initiativeā€™s development, should they wish to be involved.

Out of the 290 Creators who participated in BC2, I managed to get the Forum of 123. (Image at the end) As for the others, I either couldnā€™t find them or donā€™t know who they are.

@VeePyre :warning: Unfortunately, communication is quite difficult. I canā€™t send many DMs through the Forum to contact the Creators, and I also canā€™t tag many Forum users here.

So, to give visibility to the development happening behind the scenes, Iā€™ll leave my Discord and Email contact here so that everyone can reach out and learn more about the initiative.

I would like to open this communication channel with me and the working group.
Your suggestion, opinion, participation, and support would be of great value to the initiative.

If you a BC2 participant or if youā€™re also a Creator and interested in, feel free to contact me.

There are many suggestions about this in the Builderā€™s Challenge feedback area. But I think we should handle this as a separate topic.

If everyone writes in this field what kind of league they think it should be, a system can be developed that will be fair for everyone with all ideas. so more creators will get more rewards. Thus, small creators will have some resources to improve themselves.

I think the current Builderā€™s Challenge is a good thing, but it needs a lot of improvement.

I cannot add a link, I am adding the same article here.

The idea of the Builderā€™s Challenge is good in concept but needs a lot of improvement. My suggestions

First of all, 3rd party Boosters that will affect the ranking should be removed.

If we think of this as a league, the ranking should be organized according to the raw points received. The team that makes the most transfers or plays the most International matches will not get extra points in any league. This system is open to manipulation, the results would not be fair and would discourage builders from the system.

UGC experiences used in events and highlighted experiences will be enough for builders for this league. This shows the success of the builder and motivates them. In this way, more UGC experiences can be attracted to participate in events.

A group of auditors should be formed. their job should be to go inside the experiences and check the experiences.

Is it really an experience or just a project thrown together for the sake of it?

Is there a spammer in the experience? In other words, is the experience entered with multi accounts and just waiting to increase the play time and number?

Or is the experience really active? (for example: there are 5 people inside but only 1 person is waiting. this is fine. But if 5 out of 5 people are AFK, this is a problem).

A UGC council should be created. These people should be influential in BC decisions. They should also be from the creators of the countries they are in so that they can be in better connection with their communities.

Experiences should be divided into two categories as MP and SP. they should also be divided into categories (Obby, Race, Action Adventure etcā€¦) and a separate prize pool should be created for each category.

The General Category should continue, but the prize pool should be reduced. the part that will be allocated from here can be distributed in subcategories. in this way, the income distribution of the builders will be a little more equalized.

Organizing events with big prizes does not bring users to the Sandbox. The general complaint is that too many rewards go to spam or bot accounts. The job of the Sandbox system is to bring new users into the system. But this way only loses big money. The prizes distributed in these events can be distributed to builders. Because it is the Builders who will bring in real players who will invest in the Sandbox Ecosystem. The BC system is a good tool for this. different tools can be developed over time. But I donā€™t think events with big prizes for players are the right tool.

An area should be created on the website where Builders can add events. This way, instead of searching for events on social media platforms, players can go to the page and see all the events together.

The Experience Statistics page should be improved. Currently it is very primitive and gives very limited data.

Thank you! I really appreciate your feedback and having you as one of our supporters with the TSB League.

I understand the situation with the Builderā€™s Challenge, but TSB League isnā€™t meant to replace or oppose it.
The Builderā€™s Challenge is not solely about attracting players, but it was one of the main focuses, while the TSB League is more focused on game development.

In fact, both the Builderā€™s Challenge and the TSB League can work simultaneously or as alternatives seasons.

Certainly, if the ā€œTSB Leagueā€ aligns with TSBā€™s objectives, we would be interested in pursuing it. However, this alignment has yet to be confirmed. Itā€™s still in the early stages.
Thank you.

Hi @Dankoyy!

We are reaching out because this post and your post on X have caused some confusion.

We ask that you would review and revise both posts about your initiative, ā€œThe Sandbox League,ā€ to add clarity:

  • Please remove ā€œCreators Programā€ from the title and your replies in this discussion so that there is no direct association of your initiative with TSBā€™s program and no room for misunderstanding of your role in it (as you are a member of the community and not working on the programā€™s development).

  • On X, please edit to remove ā€œCreator Programā€ or add a comment to the thread to clarify that your initiative is a proposal to The Sandbox team and is not part of the Creator Programā€™s development.

  • Please refer to your initiative as a ā€œproposalā€ rather than a ā€œsolution.ā€ Solution implies you are problem solving a program that is still under development by The Sandbox and not yet launched.

  • Please ensure any other communications about your initiative also align.

Thank you!

Hi @Dankoyy!

The Buildersā€™ Challenge rewards game development skill and innovation by measure of player engagement.

To succeed as a UGC creator, a broad skill set is required. Creators are responsible for every stage of development, from concept to production, launch, and promotion to attract players and build a following. The challenge is not solely about attracting players, but about showcasing the full range of abilities needed to succeed as a UGC creator on a gaming platform.

  • Please ensure your post and comments make it clear that you are expressing your opinion about The Sandboxā€™s programs."

Thank you!

While your intent may have been to showcase ā€œthe full range of abilities needed to succeed as a UGC creator on a gaming platformā€, that is not what your grading metrics evaluated and rewarded.

For example: An immersive narrative adventure with all original assets that took months to build generally gets punished by the algorithm for being SP, no TSB assets, not new, and lack of repeatability. Compare the score of that to a basic MP obstacle course with a couple of hidden TSB assets that took a couple of hours to build. There is no comparison. IMO, the BC didnā€™t reward innovation or creativity.

Whether it is the Builderā€™s Challenge, the Sandbox League, or the Creators Program, we need a clear intent and metrics that truly measure and support that intent. We also need a backend that supports and can deliver those metrics.

:white_check_mark: Sure! Sorry for the confusion caused, that wasnā€™t the intention.

:white_check_mark: Yes, I havenā€™t been working on the development of the Creator Program internally. This is a UGC initiative. I have been working with other Creators on the ā€œTSB Leagueā€ to be presented to the Creator Program as a concept idea.

About:

:white_check_mark: Sure! This might be a semantic issue in English that Iā€™m not familiar with. The intention behind the solution in this case doesnā€™t carry that connotation. We need to understand the existing language barriers and sometimes not pay too much attention to small details. I hope you understand.

@TSBCreators, thank you for the considerations, and sorry for any misunderstanding. My post in question was peer-reviewed, and we aimed to be as brief and clear as possible. I appreciate the feedback, and whenever youā€™d like, Iā€™ll be available to make more adjustments. Thank you!
