Builders' Challenge 2 Rules

Following recent response and feedback on the rankings for weeks 3 and 4, we would like to provide additional clarification on the Builders’ Challenge 2 rules. Please refer to the updated rules below. We do not aim to change the rules themselves, however, we saw the need to clarify and provide further detail on the points previously outlined in our medium article.

Builders’ Challenge 2 Rules

1. Eligibility and Participation: Achieving Success in Builders’ Challenge 2

To ensure a fair and equitable playing field for all creators, we have established the following eligibility requirements:

  • Wallet Setup: A wallet is essential for receiving and managing rewards.
  • Compliance with Terms of Use: Your account and behavior must adhere to The Sandbox’s Terms of Use, ensuring a harmonious and enjoyable experience for all creators.
  • Game Maker Version: Your experience must be saved on Game Maker 0.10, the latest version of our intuitive no-code game development tool.
  • Account Activity: Your Game Maker account must have been opened on seven different days to demonstrate genuine engagement with the platform.
  • Open to Everyone: All creators are welcome to join the event. However, The Sandbox employees working on the Builders’ Challenge are not eligible for rewards.
  • Experience Exclusion: To maintain fair competition among creators, experiences made by The Sandbox or brand partners will not be eligible for rewards. These are experiences with the orange tag “Brand” and the blue tag “Sandbox.” Note that experiences made through Game Jams themed around a Brand partner will be eligible for rewards.

2. Prohibition of Artificial Engagement Boosts

To ensure fair competition and maintain the integrity of the Builders’ Challenge, we prohibit any form of artificial engagement boosting.

  • Organic Engagement: All player engagement must be earned organically through genuine interest and voluntary participation. Participants are encouraged to use creative and transparent marketing strategies to attract players.
  • Prohibited Activities: Any attempts to artificially boost engagement, for example through third parties providing fake engagement (idle players, bots, and similar), are strictly prohibited.
  • Working with Gaming Guilds: Creators may collaborate with gaming guilds, but they are responsible for the players and activity generated as a result within their experience. If players referred by these guilds exhibit signs of faking engagement or lack meaningful participation, this will be considered unauthorized activity under the rules of the Builders’ Challenge.
  • Transparency and Compliance: Participants are expected to practice transparent marketing and must be willing to disclose all marketing strategies and methods used to attract players to The Sandbox at our request. Builders’ Challenge organizers reserve the right to investigate any suspicious activity and demand clarification or evidence of compliance with this rule. The Sandbox will not disclose to the general public or third parties any of the information you share with the company.

2. Ban Policy: Ensuring Fair Play

  • Suspicious Activity: To deter cheating or unauthorized activities, we will periodically review the rankings. If any suspicious activity is identified, your experience may be disqualified or banned at the company’s discretion.
  • Consequences of Violation: Any participant or experience found in violation of these rules may face disqualification or banning from the contest. Contest organizers may issue a warning, disqualify the experience, or take additional actions, including but not limited to the forfeiture of any prizes and banning from future contests.

If you or your experience are disqualified from the Builders’ Challenge or the weekly rankings, you may make an appeal at publishing.support@sandbox.game.

We furthermore encourage you to use this form to report any suspicious activity within experiences participating in the Builders’ Challenge.
