🏗️ Builders' Challenge 2: Weeks 7 and 8 Rankings

Guys it’s been announced since Day 1 of BC 2 so no infarctions based on rules. I guess we can add that to feedback though.

Edit: Oh it looks like @TSBCreators has just addressed this.

Could you tell when rewards will be out ?? And also 9&10th week ??

This week or next week

Hi @theJoncrow  and others who are asking about the duplicate / spam experiences!

It was previously stated that any such experiences that appeared in the rankings of weeks 3+4 - that is before we clarified the rules - would be allowed in the rankings for the remaining weeks.

Meanwhile, any such newly occuring experiences in the rankings will be removed.

Thus, we have duplicates in the rankings, but none that did not appear in 3+4.

Let me know if this clarifies it

As mentioned in the post, we cannot give you an ETA right now.

We do not wish to make promises before we have a better idea about the estimated delivery date.

It will, however, be no later than next week.

Good day, TSB Team,

  1. Based on the reasons for the removal of HKINDEX and GATS—due to artificial engagement generation, the first through Guild associations and the second through bots—the same complaint applies to these experiences, which are generating artificial engagement. According to the rules, experiences from GameJams can participate, which is fine, but they cannot participate in a Sandbox event. For example, with Tower of Myths, we participated in the Love & Music Festival with more than 4,000 unique players, 12,000 matches, and an average playtime of 30 minutes. We would have unfairly taken a large part of the SAND since The Sandbox had a dedicated pool for that event, get out the experience of the BC is the correct approach.
  2. This is not a matter of feedback and nice words. If you do not resolve this, Ashara Studios—having invested thousands of dollars in creating platforms, marketing campaigns, IRL events, and nonstop content creation for our experiences—will be nearing the point of unsustainability within the platform. There have already been recent announcements of studio closures after this troubled BC. Fix this and give us the money we deserve for our efforts, it’s not correct that you decided to make an event with a brand and use your money, your media channels and your marketing strategies to destroy our work and the others creators participating in this event.

I want a valid response to this, not just the explanation you’ve given so far. I hope you understand the magnitude of what you’re causing with this answer. This could mean the withdrawal of yet another studio from the platform, one that has dedicated itself to working in countless events and ways to raise the name of The Sandbox as a platform.

With all due respect, please resolve this massive issue.

Note: The major mistake that happened here was the failure to tag the event organized by a brand(Mocaverse in this case). This can be easily resolved by acknowledging that someone made a mistake during the event process and removing these games from the ranking. As indicated by one of the games currently in the ranking, even they are surprised to find themselves there.

Lastly, and most importantly, this event was active until almost the end of the season. This means it’s not only going to affect these scores but also those from the final bi-week, turning this issue into something even more serious.

:face_exhaling: Are you seriously saying that it’s acceptable for you as a company—whose role should be to remain impartial in the BC2 and not favor any participating studio—to spend 30k SAND to bring players to experiences that will also earn SAND in BC2? And that this is fair to other studios that didn’t have that advantage? :woman_facepalming:

This means that TSB uses its own marketing campaign tools, uses its own SAND to create engagement with its own partners and the experiences it co-creates with studios, as well as some UGCs that are part of the events.

And all of this is mixed into the same batch called Creators, and that’s all fine?

This is unbelievable.

TSB really have no idea what your community is promoting on their Discord channels, putting in the marketing effort to make up for the obvious deficiencies in players’ quality of life. While your organic Creators are using third-party platforms like Discord to manage the community, TSB uses its official website and the Main Twitter to promote its events.

You’re just creating more problems where common sense alone would solve them.
It’s obvious that this is a completely unfair situation, putting Play-to-Earn Official TSB Events alongside organic Creators.

:warning: It seems like a deliberate strategy of perfect chaos. A planned storm—now they want to pit the Creators against TSB itself, or even worse, Mocaverse and Animoca Brands. What’s is happening here guys? “It’s a trap”

As the rule indicates, there is no issue with Game Jam experiences; the problem is that they are part of a branded event, in this case, Mocaverse, with a 30k SAND pool. What happened is that someone forgot to apply the orange tag to these experiences during the event.

It is right that the experiences that were included in an EVENT will be rewarded in the ranking.
These experiences were not made by MOCAVERSE, but rather by creators, so as it is written in the rules they are eligible.
These experiences have only obtained more visibility than the others because they were under an event.
This should shed light on how the Build Challenge actually took place.
This ranking as well as the 9/10 will be in the top the experiences that were included in the MOCAVERSE event.
I do not want to go on, but very happy that the TOP positions were taken by those who were included in that event.

This is not right, DarckinITA.

  1. As We explained in the Ashara post, we have already participated in events like the Love & Music Festival. These events, being focused on play-to-earn, are promoted by the rewards offered by The Sandbox.
  2. These games have already received rewards for participating in the Game Jam. We, too, as Game Jam winners, have received rewards and later scaled these games to participate fairly in the BC. If this campaign had been launched, for example, for the Impact Game Jam, our game ToM: Genbu’s Travel could also have taken prizes for a high position. From the outset, it’s unfair that some Game Jams benefit from this while others do not.
  3. In short, the BC aims to generate organic engagement by encouraging creators to develop user acquisition strategies and experiences that keep players on the platform longer, without relying on massive rewards from the platform. We are striving for a better The Sandbox, one focused more on the gameplay experience rather than rewards, which is vital for the platform’s future.
  4. If you pit me against games that received a marketing campaign from The Sandbox and a dedicated reward, you’re completely breaking the balance of this event, essentially turning it into a sham.

It’s great that new creators are coming in and can earn rewards through Game Jams, but it’s not right to involve them in a branded event with a dedicated pool, competing against creators who are scraping by to generate real engagement.

hi, i’m out of the ranking, unlike all the other times…is it possible to recheck?? thanks a lot

Dear Creators,

Our goal in including the winning experiences from the Moca Game Jams in the Moca events as part of the Builders Challenge was to support you—our dedicated and talented creators. It’s important to note that these experiences were not part of the “Experiences Exclusion” mentioned in the initial Builders Challenge #2 announcement.

That said, we’ve listened to your feedback and understand the different perspectives. To address this, we will release a revised (bis) leaderboard for weeks 7 & 8 and will distribute rewards based on whichever leaderboard is more favourable to the creators. The same approach will apply for weeks 9 & 10.

While we appreciate your input and are incorporating your feedback, we also ask the community to understand that the rules are designed to support everyone while laying the groundwork for a successful platform. The Builders Challenge is still in its pilot phase, and your feedback is invaluable as we refine the process. If we aim for a continuous Builders Challenge or a similar engagement-driven model, it’s important to follow certain rules—though we recognize they may not satisfy everyone all the time. We encourage you to remain respectful of decisions that may not always go your way, and to approach these situations constructively.

Thank you for your understanding and continued feedback.

Thank you, Mathieu.

As creators, we deeply appreciate that these issues are not only being heard but also resolved swiftly, seeking the best solution for all creators. We look forward to seeing the (bis) leaderboard. Additionally, we request a review of the “new” tag on our experiences:

  • ToM: Olbeel Tavern
  • ToM: Colosseum

Both experiences lost their “new” bonus that week, despite receiving almost daily updates and having maintained the tag during the previous three bi-weekly periods.

Thank you, Mathieu

Also, please evaluate the situation regarding @KamiSawZe and @Pandapops on the leaderboard to clarify to the community what “Employees” means.

panda pop has 2 participating accounts in the ranking, these have been there since the first week and I think the prizes have been given, so I assume that the rule in question is not taken into consideration

Please note that the same applies to all games part of LION CITY EVENTS which has 30K SAND pool.

This could have been addressed well if Preliminary rankings was published first to hear community’s feedback before publishing the final rankings.

I want to emphasize again the LION CITY EVENTS as it was run the same time and prize pool with Moca. Thank you

We were not working on The Builders’ Challenge.

Oh, I didn’t know. If that’s the case, everything seems fine then.

But maybe that’s one of the reasons the BC is causing such a headache for the UGC community and also TSB.
It’s really important that programs like BC, where the community’s knowledge is crucial, have the participation of community managers and leaders like you, @KamiSawZe and @Pandapops. So I’m surprised to hear that neither of you participated, contributed or work on the BC project.
Next time, participate please, your knowledge of the UGC community is really valuable for TSB.

We participated as LAND owners and builders in the space as we’ve been wanting to do for four years now. Many staff would like to create on the platform and have invested in Sandbox NFTs - this is why the rule was changed from BC1 to allow staff. I didn’t become the most prolific Sandbox asset collector just to not use my collection.

While we are able to talk to the people running the event and alert them to community concerns to boost your voice (as Panda and I are Community Managers), we were not decision makers in the event to avoid a conflict of interest. We had no bearing on our own rankings and set an example of how to operate within the rules.
