Rank 01 – For the 1st Rank Player , havent used " Numberland GJ" but you have considered it , is this Correct according to the rules ?? @CorentinC@VeePyre
And Also does he have 25 Unique Assets ?? According to TSB Rules ??
Is the Xp is Related to the Theme (Aeko and friends)??
Rank 05 – Is this Entry Considered Qualified according to the TSB Rules ??? Have you seen this User Updated his game on 30th but the deadline is on 29th , According to the TSB Rules if any user updated his game after the date , needs to be disqualified , i need answer for this . @CorentinC@VeePyre
And Also Rank 5 User dosen’t have 25 Unique Assets.
We need how many points does each experienced scored and need a proper correct ranking according to the sandbox rules. And also the Sandbox Staff needs to check once again and need to adjust the ranking @CorentinC@TSBCreators@VeePyre
@Anandjoice The game was submitted with the same name as the video - “Numberland GJ - Whack a Number”. That is what was filled in the form as well and that was the submission on gallery as well.
The name of the game changes if you launch the experience online - It was published with a different name “Whack a mole math” for builder’s challenge and that change was percolated across Gallery and Game Maker. The gallery submission was never changed.
You can try changing the name for yourself.
On a sidenote, and apologies for being very technical, the rules says that you “MAY FOLLOW” name the experience in that format. The submission form talks more about game being available in gallery (with date prior to submission rate).
Anyhow, let TSB staff be the judge of it. Changing the game and name are two different things. And that was also for builder’s challenge only.
Hello @gawizavl , here you need to understand one thing if you want to join the builders challenge you need to duplicate your xp and then you need to publish.
The game was not published again in the gallery just fyi. It was synchronomous and no where is it written I need to create a duplicate for builder challenge. For the gallery, the last edit date was 27th Aug way before the deadline, so nothing was intentionally changed in the gallery.
What ever it is the Rules are same, TSB staff will always tell regarding this many times in live streaming, in game jam chat . But will wait for Sandbox staff Reply .
Nowhere is it written in the rules that game cannot be used for online publishing. Rules demand that experience is not changed and updated in draft gallery - which it was not. The last edit was still 27th Aug. The TSB staff does warn about changing the game but in this case I only changed the name, and that too just on the experience page. I did not know the even gallery name will get impacted.
Anyhow, TSB staff and panel judges are most well-positioned to decide on this.
I don’t know the details, but it seems like any questions about whether Game Jam participants are complying with Game Jam rules would be best clarified by a TSB staff.
Hey there.
I will allow Corentin or Vee to give a more formal answer, but we cannot always guarantee you do not edit or make changes to your experiences, We go by the dates that show on the draft gallery, If we see the experience date as an “edited” date and updated past the submission deadline you do in fact risk being disqualified.
If you wish to publish to your land either do it before the submission deadline or create a duplicate of your experience and make edits and updates there and leave the original for the GJ in the draft gallery until the results have been announced for that Game Jam.
I tried to not change the game deliberately - the last edited date is infact before the deadline. I never even opened the experience in game maker after submission. I only published it online for builder’s challenge and that too from the Sandbox online account - did not realise online publishing will change its name everywhere and it know it will cause so many issues.
We know your passion and dedication for the Game Jams and this is why we took the time to investigate the situation and will give as much clarification as possible.
Regarding the 1st ranked experience “Whack A Number” :
The suggested nomenclature “NUMBERLAND GJ - [NameOfExperience]” was never a requirement but a way to make it easier for the judges to find the experience in the gallery.
About assets number - yes the experience has 25 assets - please note that this rule does not mean that the creator needs to create 25 assets but only use 25 assets - it’s possible to use basic asset.
Regarding theme fit - The experience features characters from Aeko & Friends IP + is using numbers & comparison in its core mechanic as it was asked in the medium article. We consider the theme respected.
Now to give some elements on why it was chosen as the best experience : The core mechanic logic is really well achieved & fun to play, the difficulty curve added to randomized elements makes it interesting to keep playing and the score gives it a high replayability. I encourage you to play the experience and discover it by yourself.
I would agree that some experiences might have a better visual immersion into Aeko & Friends lore but our judging criteria (which are decribed here) are made to encourage fun gameplay & replayability as much as possible that is why this game as performed well.
Regarding the 5th ranked experience “Mission To Math”
About assets number - yes the experience has 25 assets - same comment as below, we are not asking for 25 original assets.
Regarding theme fit - The experience is mentioning Aeko & Friends lore in its narrative & the core mechanic is based uppon number manipulation. It’s enough to consider that the theme is respected.
Regarding the update of the experience. In the GM gallery the game is indeed noted as updated after the date. Now, the rules states that “You may not update your game after the date and time stated in the Medium article”. It doesn’t say anything about changing the name or publishing it on the map. I know we ask you to avoid making such things because it messes with the dates showed on the Game maker Gallery and makes it more difficult for us to verify that the game content was not modified. However, after checking, those explanations were only done on discord or during AMAs and ultimately only the rules that are seen by everyone (Medium article / emails) can prevail. This is my mistake and I apologized for not having anticipated this situation. After checking that the update did not affect the content of the game, then I conclude that official rules are not breached.
This is why there won’t be any changes in the top 10 results for this Game jam.
That said I take note of all feedback here and conclude that :
We need to clarify the “Update” rule in accordance with our demand of publishing the experience page.
The “Local Game Jam” model suffers from a lack of transparency & communication - we will change the format to avoid those issues
In general the voting process might also lack of transparency. To give some information all our current global game jams are voted by 5 judges : 2 members of The Council & 3 external studio selected amongst our Trusted Partners. Those studio are rotating and we make sure they have no link to participants.
I hope you understand our decison and we will pay attention that next times, rules are clear enough to avoid this kind of situation.
Thanks for your support and be assured that our objective remains to keep improving the Game Jam as much as possible.
Here i would like to tell one thing , TSB Stated the rules right, there is no mistake from TSB but every Creator needs to check every rule before submitting the xp, This is not your Mistake Sir @CorentinC , i Deeply appreciate , encourage and support my fellow creators👏 @gawizavl & 5th rank User being in top 10 , Guys there is no other intentions on you , just to clarify the rules i have been reported.
It has been a while since our rules were updated in Gitbook, and we see that this requires attention. We apologise for the inconvenience and will make sure to update this to ensure clarity in future Game Jams
